This is the full report of the monitoring of police stations, hospitals and courts that our campaign partners conduct every year during the annual 16 days of no violence against women and children which was released in 2011.
During the 16 Days of Activism in 2010, civil society organisations participating in the Shukumisa Campaign conducted monitoring at 70 police stations, 31 courts and 11 hospitals across Gauteng, Western Cape, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal to assess the level of services which these facilities provide to rape victims.
Through observation and short, structured interviews, monitors evaluated the facilities according to certain criteria based around the Sexual Offences Act and related national policies.
We are currently working on the report of the 2011 monitoring.
